Holiday Light

What is a holiday? They are not always filled with lightness and festivity, they can include some darkness, real challenges, sadness at the reminders of loss.

 Here's a couple of definitions of "holiday".  I really like #2!

• British English uses a word that derives from Holy Day.  Americans use "holiday'' to mean an officially recognized day of significance, whether religious or not.
• The holidays in the Bible were God's idea. These special times were set aside times to remember the works He had done in the past. They are also a time to remember His works in our lives.

 I like the second definition because it goes right to my heart, a re-minder that God has big ideas that go way beyond my own ... re-minders to re-member His Light.  And when I do, I feel that Light and lighter.  Available for us, all of us.  Yes, there it is. 

The Light shines in listening to soft music with a friend, meeting on Facetime and Zoom with my loves in other states, a flickering candle, walking with a friend, a nutritious meal, the sun shining, rain falling, fresh snow, twinkling lights, breathing in Love, my heart moving into compassion, forgiveness, faith, trust.   

The Light shines around us, for us, it will shine into us because it wants to shine, and wants to shine as us.  Yes, even in the darkness, the challenges.  

Let there be light ... Let it in ... There it is ... Shining ... Feel it ... Shine on!   

May you find moments of peace and love.  May you look for the light and soak it into your very soul this holiday and every day.
